Flying out, and why we usually say no
The Edmonton International Airport sits inside Leduc County, so we get asked about shipping puppies more often than most programs would. Our answer is that we do not put a puppy on a plane as cargo if there is any way around it. An eight-week-old in a hold is a stressful start to a life we have spent two months trying to make calm.
What we will do is work with families who are prepared to travel, and we will be straight with anybody far enough away that the trip is unreasonable. If a match cannot be done properly, the honest thing is to say so rather than to sell you a puppy and a flight.
Winter in Leduc County, and why coat type matters more than colour
A Bernedoodle handles an Alberta winter better than most breeds its size. The Bernese half was bred for Swiss mountain work, and the double-thick coat that comes with it means a healthy adult is usually comfortable on a −20 °C walk long after the humans want to go inside. The limit is the pavement and the paws, not the dog. Salt, ice melt and hard-packed snow between the toes cause more winter problems here than the temperature does.
The part people underestimate is the other side of that coat. A wavy or curly Bernedoodle does not shed the way a Bernese does, which is the reason most families want one, but it means the coat has to be brushed out rather than dropped. Six months of snow, road grit and wet fur is how a beautiful puppy coat becomes one solid mat by March. They can be good rural family dogs, though they are not livestock guardians or herding dogs. The Bernese half handles cold and outdoor work comfortably and the Poodle half is intelligent and biddable. Recall training on a long line through the first year is essential on open land.

Our puppies are $3,000, and that price covers everything listed on our process page — vet checks, first vaccinations, deworming, microchip, temperament assessment, the go-home kit and lifetime support. There are no add-ons at pickup. Prices elsewhere in Alberta vary widely, and a very low price usually means something has been left out of the health and socialisation work.
How long is the wait for a puppy?
We are a two-dog program running a few litters a year, so availability moves in waves rather than continuously. The honest answer depends on what is on the ground when you ask.
